Lupin part 4: release date, episode count and what we know

Assane Diop has been gone longer than any Netflix gap should reasonably allow. Part 3 landed in October 2023. Part 4 arrives on Friday 23 October 2026, three years and eighteen days later, which is a long time to remember where a heist was up to.
Here is what Netflix has actually confirmed, and what the previous three parts tell you about how release day will work.
When does Lupin part 4 come out?
Netflix has set 23 October 2026 as the global release date for part 4, announced on Tudum alongside a first-look poster. The date has not shifted since.
That puts it in the same October slot Netflix used for part 3, and roughly eight weeks from the time this is published.
How many episodes are in Lupin part 4?
Eight, running around 45 minutes each. That makes it the longest part so far, and the gap between parts is reflected in the runtime as much as the episode count.

All at once or weekly?
Netflix has not published the release pattern for part 4, so treat this as precedent rather than confirmation.
Every previous part of Lupin has dropped in full on release day. Part 1’s five episodes arrived together on 8 January 2021, part 2’s five on 11 June 2021, and part 3’s seven on 5 October 2023. Nothing about the show has ever been staggered.
The reasonable expectation is therefore eight episodes on the Friday, all at once. If Netflix does change the pattern, it will say so closer to the date, and this is a show worth having an alert on either way.
Who is back?
Omar Sy returns as Assane Diop. That has never seriously been in doubt; Lupin is his show in a way few Netflix series belong to one actor.
The returning cast around him includes Ludivine Sagnier, Antoine Gouy, Soufiane Guerrab, Shirine Boutella, Théo Christine and Laïka Blanc-Francard. George Kay, who created the series, continues to lead it with François Uzan.
Why a three year gap is a tracking problem
This is the practical part, and it is the reason a lot of people will open part 4 and immediately feel lost.
Three years is long enough that most viewers cannot remember which episode they finished on, let alone what happened in it. It is also long enough that the show has fallen off every “continue watching” row it was ever on. Netflix’s own interface is not much help here: it surfaces what is new, not what you left unfinished in 2023.
Two things are worth doing before 23 October.
Find out where you actually stopped. Plenty of people who think they finished part 3 stopped at episode five or six. A tracker that records episode level progress will tell you in a second; memory will not.
Set a reminder rather than trusting yourself to notice. A show that returns after three years does not get the promotional push a weekly returning series does. It appears, and if you are not looking that week, you miss it.

October is unusually busy
Part 4 does not arrive into an empty schedule. Slow Horses season 6 runs weekly on Apple TV through to 21 October, and its finale lands two days before Lupin drops. If you are tracking both, that is one week with a spy thriller finale and eight episodes of French heist television in it.

Frequently asked questions
Is Lupin part 4 the final season?
Netflix has not announced part 4 as the final part, and nothing official suggests the series is ending. Given the three year gap before this one, any statement about what comes next is likely to arrive well after release.
Do I need to rewatch parts 1 to 3?
Not all of it. Part 3 is the one that matters most, because part 4 picks up from where it left Assane. If you are short of time, the last two episodes of part 3 carry most of what you need.
Where can I watch Lupin?
Netflix only, worldwide. All previous parts are on the service, so a catch-up before 23 October needs nothing extra.
Is Lupin in French or English?
French, with subtitles and an English dub available. The show is set in Paris and the original audio is French; the dub exists but the subtitles are the better experience.
What time do new Netflix releases drop?
Netflix typically releases at 00:01 Pacific Time, which is 08:01 in the UK during British Summer Time. Note that the clocks go back on 25 October, two days after Lupin lands, so release morning is still on BST.
