Slow Horses season 6: release date, episode schedule and what we know

Slough House is open for business again. Jackson Lamb and his rejects return for a sixth season this September, and Apple has confirmed the date, the episode count and the books it draws from. Here is everything that is actually official, plus the full week by week schedule.

When does Slow Horses season 6 come out?

Season 6 premieres globally on Wednesday 16 September 2026 on Apple TV. That comes straight from Apple’s official announcement, so there is no ambiguity about it.

It is a six episode season, opening with a single episode and then releasing one new episode every Wednesday through to the finale on 21 October. No binge drop, which for a show this dense with double crosses is probably for the best.

The full episode schedule

One episode per Wednesday gives us these dates:

Episode Release date
1 Wednesday 16 September
2 Wednesday 23 September
3 Wednesday 30 September
4 Wednesday 7 October
5 Wednesday 14 October
6 Wednesday 21 October

Episode titles have not been announced yet. Apple episodes typically land at midnight Pacific time, which is early morning in the UK, so a Wednesday evening watch is safe from day one.

Where can you watch Slow Horses season 6?

Slow Horses is an Apple TV exclusive, the service formerly known as Apple TV+, and that is where all five previous seasons live too, so a pre-season rewatch is a one-stop job. No other streaming service carries it.

You can watch through the Apple TV app on iPhone, iPad, Android, smart TVs, streaming sticks and consoles, or in any browser at tv.apple.com. One subscription covers the lot, and it is the same subscription you may already be paying for Ted Lasso.

Which books does season 6 adapt?

This is the interesting bit. Season 6 blends two of Mick Herron’s Slough House novels into a single run: Joe Country and Slough House, the sixth and seventh books in the series. Previous seasons have mostly taken one book each, so squeezing two into six episodes suggests a faster, leaner season.

The official synopsis says season 6 “sees the Slow Horses on the run as Diana Taverner embroils them all in a fatally high-stakes game of retaliation and revenge.” If you have read the books you will know why that is ominous. If you have not, no spoilers here.

Who is in the cast?

Gary Oldman returns as Jackson Lamb, alongside Kristin Scott Thomas as Diana Taverner and Jack Lowden as River Cartwright. Saskia Reeves, Christopher Chung, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Rosalind Eleazar, Joanna Scanlan, Samuel West, Ruth Bradley, Tom Brooke, Jonathan Pryce and Hugo Weaving are all back too. The confirmed new addition is Lenny Rush, fresh off his BAFTA win, though his role is being kept quiet for now.

How to make sure you do not miss an episode

Six Wednesdays is a short season, but weekly spy thrillers are the easiest shows to get spoiled on. Miss one week and someone in a group chat has already told you who the mole is.

The simple fix: follow Slow Horses in TrackShows, turn on Episode alerts, and you get one push notification each Wednesday when a new episode is out. Nothing else, no engagement spam, just the air date. There is more detail on the features page, and a rundown of the alternatives in our guide to getting notified when new episodes air.

And if you are already tracking Ted Lasso season 4, note the handover: its finale lands on 7 October, right in the middle of the Slow Horses run. Apple has your Wednesdays booked through to late October.
