Year in review and a countdown widget join TrackShows Premium
TrackShows Premium gets two new features in version 1.23.0: a year in review you can share, and a home screen widget that counts down to your next episodes. Both are included in the one yearly plan, at no extra cost for anyone already subscribed. And as always, nothing free has moved behind the paywall.
Your year in review
One screen for one year of watching. It shows how many episodes and movies you got through, how many hours that came to, your top shows, your top genre, your busiest month, your longest daily streak and how many episodes you rated.
Every December a card appears on your Profile tab with your year so far, and it stays through January for the year just finished. You do not have to wait for it, though. Open Insights on your Profile, tap any year under By year, and that year’s review opens, whenever you like.
In the Android and iPhone apps, Share your year turns the summary into an image for your messages or socials. On the web it copies a text version instead, ready to paste.
One thing it leaves out on purpose: episodes imported from TV Time. An import tells us what you watched but not when, so counting it would pile years of history into the day you imported. Your review only counts what you have ticked off in TrackShows.
A countdown on your home screen
The widget lists the next episodes of the shows you follow and how long until each one airs: Today, Tomorrow, in 3 days. When two shows land on the same day, both are listed. It keeps counting down with the app closed, refreshes whenever you open TrackShows, and a tap opens the app.
To add it on Android, long press an empty spot on your home screen, choose Widgets, find TrackShows and drag the countdown into place. It can be resized, and it fits more episodes as it grows.
On iPhone, long press an empty spot, tap Edit, then Add Widget, and search for TrackShows. It comes in small, medium and large, and the large one fits the most episodes.
How to get them
Update to TrackShows 1.23.0 from Google Play or the App Store. If you are already a Premium member, both features are waiting for you. If not, choose Go premium on your Profile tab; everything Premium includes is on the premium page, and the original announcement explains why there is a premium tier at all.
